Jeff Baraka sits down with Blitz the Ambassador in Chicago after his performance and the World Music Festival at Navy Pier.
"Where I come from, you know, storytelling is king. We come from the oral tradition…the environment that existed in the 80s that made hip-hop culture the cutting edge situation ended up inspiring us in Ghana because we could relate. We were like, yo man we have NO voice. We’re sitting here and people who come from the colonial era are telling us what to do…The challenges that exist back at home are still the same. So if you notice the cats that are coming from there still have that raw edge, that political edge. Because we’re like: aint nothing changed."
